End of the Road

Jack stairs at the the chalky smoke from the cigerette. He puts it to his mouth and draws deeply. His fingers shake with anger as he turns the business card over in his hand. "All City Cycle". He remembers passing it several times on the way to Cally's Pool Hall.

"Mack, get Snake on the line, would ya?"

"Sure boss."

Jack's not surprised that Snake's opened a chop shop smack dab in the middle of Black Diamond territory. The string of Harley thefts over the past couple of months suggested something was up.

"Got em, Jack. Line one" says Mack.

Jack takes a deep breath as he picks up the reciever.

"You got a lot of nerve Snake."

"Oh, I dunno. I guess I've gotten a little crazy in my old age. How's the motorcycle repair business?" Snake chuckles.

"I wanna meet. End of the Road bar. Monday."

"Alright. What are we calling this little meeting?" Snake asks.

"Business."

Anna stairs out the diner window at the pouring rain. She looks up at the grey clouds and hopes for sunshine.

"Anna, order up."

She has been planning this for five years. She looks down at the blue tattoo of a motorcycle on her left wrist. She covers it up with her other hand. What if she hadn't got away? What if Snake had found her? He still might. One more day and I'm gone. Mexico, here I come.

"Order up," Mel yells from the kitchen.

She can still taste the metal of the pistal that Snake put in her mouth. Cold, yet burning her tongue with the steel barrel. Snake was crazy, no question about it. If he finds me, I'm dead.

"Anna!"

Anna startles out of her nightmare and turns to pull the order. "Yeah, Yeah, I heard ya." She grabs the cheeseburger and fries and serves the old guy at table eight. As she turns to walk away the guy grabs her.

"What're you doin here anyways" the guy asks. "Pretty lady like yourself could make more money on her back then on her feet."

Anna ignores the guy reminding herself not to cause a scene. Besides she's not sure, but the guy looks familiar, one of Snake's men maybe. One more day and it's tacos and tequila forever.
